Growing up with a seamstress grandmother and a mother who could make practically anything, Melinda Mae has loved crafts and sewing since childhood. In junior high school she learned to use a sewing machine, then took on small sewing projects as a hobby. Finding that she could replicate handbags she saw in stores, she began to experiment with different patterns and fabrics.

In 2007, through the encouragement and support of family and friends, Melinda Mae established her own brand to express her creativity, to make bags for people like her, and to inspire others to pursue dreams that do not seem possible.

Each Melinda MaeTM handbag is designed to complement extraordinary and unique styles, moods and personalities. The bags are made specifically “for playful days and soulful nights” to address the designer’s theme of carefree attitudes. Inspired by days spent playing on the beach and relaxing in the sun, Melinda Mae uses Hawaiian print fabrics and other fun designs. Also, influenced by soulful music and nightlife, Melinda MaeTM bags have a modern urban appeal.
